The skid plate is plastic-chrome, and the filler plate behind it is plastic as well. ![]() The front bumper is not flat, so the actual bracket would have to contour back a little on both sides. Ya, I like the look of it without also, but the Utah Highway Patrol have been sticklers lately. But I just didnt want some guy with a cordless drill eyeballing where to drill holes into my bumper. So just imagine mounting a bracket just to be able to remove it next year. Is there a regulation on where the plate must be mounted Why not mount it very low, maybe attached to something other than the bumper cover with some fabbed-up brackets of some sort It wouldnt leave holes in your bumper cover if you ever removed it. Or maybe brackets that would go thru an existing opening in the bumper cover and bolt to something hidden When we bought my wifes Equinox, it had a front bracket on it. She didnt want me to remove it because it would leave the ugly holes in the bumper cover. She didnt notice until almost a month later that it was gone.
